Doctor Who main writer and showrunner Steven Moffat has hinted again
at a multi-Doctors special episode of the show to celebrate the 50th
Anniversary. According to the Daily Mirror, Moffat, who is currently writing
the special said earlier this week:
“Getting the other Doctors involved would be very fitting
for the anniversary episode, wouldn’t it?”
Seven of the Time Lord’s previous incarnations survive and
are thought to have agreed to feature in cameos roles in the show: Tom Baker,
Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher
Eccleston, and David Tennant. They will join current star Matt Smith in the episode
which is due to start filming during the spring. In addition it is also
believed that archive footage and computer generated imagery will ensure that
the three Doctor Who actors who have since died – William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton
and Jon Pertwee - will also make an appearance.
It is also rumoured that the special will be Matt Smith’s
last show, although the BBC issued a statement last week to reassure viewers
that the actor intended to hold onto the role for a while yet. Of the buzz
surrounding the return of his predecessors, Matt Smith said: “How amazing would
it be to see Tom Baker? Can you imagine seeing him back in the scarf? That
would be so cool. Paul McGann is a great Doctor – I say bring back Chris and
Dave too.”

As yet, none of the surviving Doctors or companions have admitted to being asked to take part in a reunion episode. Even as recently as the Project Motor Mouth fan convention, David Tennant told attendees that he had not been contacted at all.
