The British Academy Television Awards Are Announced Today: Twenty Twelve Nominated



The Arqiva British Academy Television Awards are announced this evening. Graham Norton hosts the ceremony from the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall.

Twenty Twelve, the spoof documentary series narrated by David Tennant, is among the nominees for Best Situation Comedy. Also the show's stars have been recognised: Hugh Bonneville is named for Male Performance In A Comedy Programme, while Olivia Colman and Jessica Hynes compete for the Female Performance in A Comedy Programme Awards.

Confirmed attendees tonight include Michael Palin (who will be awarded the BAFTA Fellowship this year), Martin Freeman, Huge Bonneville, Olivia Colman, Jodie Whittaker, Jessica Hynes, Sir Derek Jacobi, Miranda Hart, Russell Tovey and Stephen Mangan. 

The event also includes a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who . A special sketch filmed by Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman will be screened along with a montage of highlights from the whole history of the show. Two Daleks will be patrolling the red carpet and Jenna-Louise Coleman will be on hand to present an award.
