New Richard II Production Blog: ‘Badges Of His Grief And Patience’



John Wyver of Illuminations has posted the latest of his blogs detailing the progress of the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Richard II from rehearsals to stage. John will be producing the RSC's live stream of the play, starring David Tennant, Nigel Lindsay and Oliver Ford Davies, into cinemas around the UK and worldwide.

This week's blog documents the cast and crew visit to Westminster Hall and Westminster Abbey last Wednesday to explore some of the history of King Richard. John also gives detail of some of director Greg Doran's unique methods for working through the play: his line-by-line analysis of the meaning behind the text ahead of the first read through

Richard II opens at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon on 10th October 2013 and will run until 16th November 2013. It will then transfer to the Barbican Theatre in London from December 9th 2013 until 25th January 2014. The play will be streamed live from Stratford-upon-Avon into UK cinemas on Wednesday 13th November and subsequently into UK schools on Friday 15th November and cinemas worldwide from November till January 2014. Venues in the UK have already been announced and the first locations in the USA and Sweden were posted last week, with other regions to follow shortly.


John Wyver  also mentions that Dusthouse complete work on the production trailer today and it will be on view in cinemas and online at the end of the week.
