AUSTRALIA: Spies Of Warsaw Airs On SBS In February

Australian viewers will have a second chance to see David Tennant in the wartime espionage drama Spies Of Warsaw when it airs on SBS One in February.

Spies Of Warsaw is adapted from Alan Furst’s celebrated novel by award winning screenwriters Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. The thrilling spy story is set in Poland, Paris, London & Berlin in the years leading up to the Second World War. French and German intelligence operatives are locked in a life-and-death struggle on the espionage battlefield.
At the French embassy, the new military attaché, Colonel Jean-Francois Mercier (David Tennant), a decorated war hero of the 1914 war, is drawn into a world of abduction, betrayal and intrigue in the diplomatic salons and back alleys of Warsaw. At the same time, the handsome aristocrat finds himself in a passionate love affair with Anna (Janet Montgomery), a Parisian lawyer for the League of Nations. Their complicated love affair intensifies as German tanks drive through the Black Forest.

The two-part drama was a joint production between Fresh Pictures for BBC Four, TV Poland, ARTE France and BBC America. It originally aired in the UK in January 2013 and previously was seen in Australia on UKTV in May.

Watch part one of Spies Of Warsaw on SBS One and SBS HD at 8.30pm on Sunday 2nd February. Part two airs at the same time on the following Sunday.
