VIDEO: ITV3 To Repeat Secret Smile Starring David Tennant

ITV3 have announced some of their August schedule in a new trailer released today. Among the highlights will be a welcome repeat of the 2005 thriller Secret Smile starring David Tennant and Kate Ashfield.

Secret Smile was adapted from the Nicci French novel of the same title and was originally broadcast on ITV over two nights from the 12th - 13th December 2005, slightly under two weeks before The Christmas Invasion, David's first full episode in Doctor Who. David played Brendan Block, an apparently charming man who turns out to have a much darker side.

Secret Smile
When Miranda Cotton (Kate Ashfield) meets self-styled entrepreneur Brendan Block (David Tennant) at a mutual friend's birthday party, she embarks on what she thinks is a harmless fling. She soon finds his clingy behaviour unsettling and ends the relationship, but he seems reluctant to let go. Soon afterwards her sister Kerry (Claire Goose) introduces her to her new boyfriend...and it's Brendan. Alarm bells start to ring for Miranda, but no-one listens to her concerns and Brendan manages to worm his way into her family. As Miranda tries to prove Brendan's lies and manipulations, tragedy strikes.
