UK: United Starring David Tennant & Jack O'Connell To Air On Drama Channel

The powerful BBC drama United, recounting the real-life events surrounding the 1958 Munich air crash, will air on UK channel Drama from Saturday 13th December.

David Tennant plays Jimmy Murphy, the legendary Manchester United coach, who was forced to take charge of the football club after a plane crash on the return trip from a European fixture killed and injured many of the players and staff. Jack O'Connell (Skins, Starred Up) plays his young protege Bobby Charlton, with Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible II) as Matt Busby and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games) as Duncan Edwards. United was written by Chris Chibnall and directed by James Strong, the team that went on to reunite with David Tennant and create the award winning Broadchurch and its American remake Gracepoint. The drama which originally aired in April 2011 draws on first-hand interviews with the survivors and their families to tell the inspirational story of a team and community overcoming terrible tragedy.

Billie Piper: "I Would Love To Work With David Tennant Again"

It seems this week as if David Tennant's former Doctor Who companions are queuing up for a chance to work with him again. 

On Wednesday in a Q&A session via The Guardian newspaper, Catherine Tate revealed that she and David were actively looking for new projects together. Now Billie Piper has raised hope of a joint project in the pipeline.

Talking at her panel today at the Chicago TARDIS convention, she revealed,
"I would love to work with David Tennant again. I'm seeing him in a few weeks so we'll see what we can do!"

David and Billie last shared screen time during the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special The Day Of the Doctor, but have not performed together outside of the show. Even in the 2012 series True Love, they appeared in separate episodes. 

However, Billie revealed that she still has reason to contact David regularly.


"David Tennant is my sci-fi encyclopedia!" she said, "I call him any time I need history or an explanation!"


JAPAN: David Tennant On The Late Late Show On AXN Tonight

David Tennant is glimpsed briefly in the brand new BBC One Christmas trailer.

The new trailer, titled Be With The Ones You Love, is made up of clips from some of the channel's best loved Christmas specials and includes a clip of David with Kylie Minogue in Voyage Of The Damned. Watch out too for Billie Piper and Noel Clark as Rose and Mickey in The Christmas Invasion.

BBC One say: "From Still Open All Hours to Strictly Come Dancing, and many many more, we’ve always been here to make your Christmasses special. BBC One, Be with the ones you love."

USA & CANADA: David Tennant's Letterman Appearance Repeated Next Week

North American viewers will have another chance to see David Tennant's appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman next week. The edition of the chat show, originally aired on October 29th, will be shown on Monday 1st December at 11.35pm/10.35c on CBS. The show will also air at the same time on CBS affiliates in Canada. 

David appeared to talk about his FOX TV show Gracepoint although he spent much of the interview explaining Doctor Who to the veteran show host. Jim Carrey also guest starred.

Gracepoint returns after the Thanksgiving break on Thursday 4th December at 9pm ET on Fox in the USA and on Global in Canada and on Friday 5th December at 8.30pm on the Universal Channel in Australia. 




USA: Nativity 2 Premieres On UP TV In The USA Today

The 2012 festive UK hit movie Nativity 2: Danger In The Manger! Will have its US TV debut tonight on UP TV from 9pm ET. The film airs as part of the channel's 50 day long Everything You Love About Christmas package. In the family friendly feature, David Tennant stars in a dual role as the feuding Peterson twins, with Joanna Page, Marc Wootton and Jason Watkins also joining in the fun. The movie is written and directed by Debbie Isitt with dialogue improvised by the cast.

REDS AND GRAYS: Christopher Plummer Announced As New Cast Member

The producers of new animated feature film Reds And Grays starring David Tennant have now added Academy Award winning actor Christopher Plummer (Beginners, The Sound Of Music) to their cast. Plummer, whose performing career spans over 60 years, will voice King Gray.

Reds And Grays is the newest project by animation company Nottage Productions and is a romantic comedy revolving around the war between red and grey squirrels. David Tennant stars as Robbie and with Lena Headey as Kiona and Gemma Arterton as Sammy; Max Charles and Eva Bella also feature. Christopher Plummer joins alongside other recently announced cast members Alan Tudyk and John Gordon Sinclair.

The film is written by animator Joel Foster based on a concept by Tony Nottage who also produces. Foster will also co-direct the project with Leon Joosen. Reds And Grays is being jointly produced by Nottage Productions and Entertainment Ventures and is currently in pre-production with a proposed 2015 release date.


Last Chance To Vote For David Tennant In The What's On Stage Awards

A quick reminder that nominations for the 15th annual WhatsOnStage Awards will be closing tomorrow so it is your last chance to show your support for David Tennant.
The awards are the only major theatre awards where the audience, are the judges across all categories. 

All professional productions which opened in London between 1 December 2013 and 30 November 2014 are eligible for nomination. This means that David's performance in the RSC's production of Richard II at The Barbican is eligible for you to nominate in the Best Actor In A Play category. 
The play itself can be nominated in the Best Play Revival category and Best Off-West End Production.

The full WhatsOnStage Awards shortlists will be announced on Friday 5 December 2014 at a Launch Party at Cafe de Paris in the heart of the West End. This marks the opening of the final voting stage, with winners being announced at the legendary annual Awards Concert, held on 15 February 2015.

David Tennant is through to the final tournament of the Anglophenia Anglo Fan Favourites Man Of the Year 2014 contest.

The Anglophenia Anglo Fan Favourites contest pitches 32 of the UK and Ireland's most beloved male stars to battle it out through one-on-one votes until only one is left standing. 

David narrowly beat The Hobbit star Richard Armitage by 51.66% of the vote to 48.34%. He has already seen off challenges by Andrew Lincoln, Peter Capaldi and Tom Hiddleston. In the final he will now lock horns with Sam Heughan, star of Outlander

PHOTOS: David Tennant Switches On The 2007 Blackpool Illuminations #ThrowbackThursday

In 2007, David Tennant travelled up to Blackpool to switch on the annual Illuminations.

The Blackpool Illuminations is a celebrated display of lights which runs for just over two months every autumn in the UK seaside resort of Blackpool. Established in 1879, the Illuminations are a tradition found in a number of larger coastal towns, but Blackpool's are arguably the most famous. The display runs for six miles along the sea front. The Big Switch On is a major event with performances from bands preceding a celebrity flicking the switch to turn on the display.

In 2007 the lights incorporated a Doctor Who display, including monsters from the revived series. As the then star of the show, David Tennant was invited to switch on the display for the massive event on August 31st. The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special The Day Of The Doctor has been nominated in the 2015 Broadcast Awards. The programme is shortlisted in the category for Best International Programme Sales.

The annual Broadcast Awards are now in their 20th year. The awards celebrate the best in British creativity, commending the most outstanding content of the year and championing those who made it possible. This year over 100 programmes have been shortlisted across 17 categories, and the finals also celebrate productions companies and Channel of the Year. The winners will be announced on 4th February 2015 at a ceremony held at Grosvenor House in London.

UK: The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists To Premiere On The BBC This Christmas

The hilarious Aardman animated feature film The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists will have its UK terrestrial premiere over the Christmas period when it will make up part of the BBC's 2014 festive line up.

Based on the book of the same title by Gideon Defoe and directed by Aardman co-founder Peter Lord, the stop-motion movie is a delirious high-seas romp starring Hugh Grant as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain, who navigates his salty crew on a perilous mission to Victorian London to aid a young Charles Darwin, voiced by David Tennant, and to win the prize of Pirate Captain of the Year. Along the way they encounter rival pirates Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek), the Pirate King (Brian Blessed) and Queen Victoria (Imelda Staunton). The film was originally released in UK cinemas in March 2012.

The BBC Christmas TV and Radio schedules will be confirmed by early December.



Catherine Tate: David Tennant And I Are Looking For Future Projects Together

Catherine Tate has confirmed that she and David Tennant are actively looking for new ways to work together. Catherine made the revelation in an online chat with readers of The Guardian earlier today.

"Working with David is the best," she said. "We get on so well and it's just always so much fun. I don't know how to describe it - it's just that something clicked when we first started working together from day one on The Runaway Bride and hopefully will continue to. We're looking for future projects together."

Catherine played the Tenth Doctor's fiery companion Donna Noble in the 2006 Doctor Who Christmas special, returning as a full-time companion for the 2008 season. But despite Donna's return in David Tennant's swansong The End Of Time, Catherine has ruled out any more appearances on the show.

The 1999 film The Last September will screen at the BFI Southbank as part of a two-month long Maggie Smith season.

The versatile actress Dame Maggie Smith has starred in films ranging from Shakespeare to comedy, from period drama to fantasy feature, from romance to American classic, so it's only natural that the BFI should want to celebrate her work with a selection of her most loved productions.

FOX TV's enthralling murder mystery Gracepoint may be absent from our screens for this week due to US Thanksgiving, but fortunately we can bring you some brand new promotional pictures of David Tennant to look at in the meantime.

The ten-part series explores events in a small town in Northern California following the murder of a young local boy. David Tennant plays Detective Emmett Carver who is leading the hunt for the killer, alongside his colleague Ellie Miller played by Anna Gunn.
