The 2013 BBC drama The Politician's Husband premieres on ARTE in France and Germany tonight.
David Tennant stars as Aiden Hoynes, an ambitious Member of Parliament who makes a misjudged bid for the party leadership and ends up losing his Cabinet post and all the power that accompanies it. At the same time, his wife and fellow MP, Freya Gardner (Emily Watson) steps out from his shadow to begin her own meteoric rise up the political ladder. Aiden is gripped with jealousy at her success and begins to play a dangerous game in order to regain his position. Ed Stoppard, Roger Allam, Anamaria Marinca and Jack Shepherd also star. The three part series was written by Paula Milne and was originally shown on BBC Two.
