PHOTOS: David Tennant & Olivia Colman Filming Broadchurch - Possible Spoilers

Filming for the new series of Broadchurch is coming in to the closing stages and David Tennant and Olivia Colman have been out filming on location in West Bay this week.

The Daily Mail and the Dorset Echo have published a selection of photos from the week's action which included hundreds of female extras gathering alongside the cast to shoot scenes on Thursday night.

The crowds took to the beach holding lanterns in scenes reminiscent of the end of the first series were locals took part in a tribute to murdered school boy Danny Latimer.

Other scenes showed David and Olivia outside the town's police station and David was also spotted filming with his on screen daughter.

The third and final series of Broadchurch finds David Tennant and Olivia Colman again returning to the roles of mismatched detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller, this time to investigate a serious sexual assault. Series creator Chris Chibnall has worked closely with specialist police advisors and local support organisations who deal with the victims of sexual violence in developing the scripts. Also returning are Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and Arthur Darvill, while other new cast members include Julie Hesmondhalgh, Sarah Parish, Roy Hudd and Charlie Higson.

The series is expected to debut on ITV in the UK early in 2017.
