AUDIO: David Tennant & Billie Piper Talk To Big Finish About New Doctor Who Recordings

As announced this week, the Tenth Doctor and Rose are reunited for a brand new trio of audio adventures produced and released by Big Finish Productions later this year. David Tennant and Billie Piper have recorded three hour-long full cast audio dramas, marking Billie's first work with Big Finish.

This morning, an exclusive clip of David and Billie talking about their reunion and the new recordings has been included in the new Big Finish podcast, hosted by Nick Briggs and Benji Clifford. They talked about how the audio projects had given them more time to appreciate their overall involvement with the show away from the intense demands of the TV version. David played the Doctor between 2005 and Billie played Rose Tyler for two series from 2005-6, with a return for two episodes in 2008; both actors were back for the 2013 anniversary special, The Day Of The Doctor.

David explained, "It’s one of those things that when you’ve been involved in it, it never goes away. But when it’s not quite the sole focus of everything that’s going on in your life you can enjoy it more, you can take time to think, this is a fun thing to be associated with."

Billie added, "I couldn’t understand what it meant to the kids until I had kids,"

Later in the podcast, Billie is interviewed by Big Finish executive producer and voice of the Daleks Nick , where she said of the return of the Doctor and Rose, "Our version of the show has an afterlife and that’s going to make loads of fans very happy."

The Doctor and Rose feature begins at 5 minutes 15 seconds and the David and Billie clip at 8m 15s. Billie's interview begins at 44m 15s.

David Tennant and Billie Piper return as the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler for three brand new audio dramas.
