CANNES FILM FESTIVAL: You Me & Him And Mad To Be Normal Screening At Buyers Market

Two of David Tennant's most recent feature films will be screened at the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival this week. The world famous celebration of movies and filmmaking begins tomorrow and runs for 12 days until Sunday 28th May, giving a first look at new project from around the world to invited attendees. The Marché du Film is one of the biggest film markets in the industry, with films on display via full screenings and trailers to potential distributors.

Double Dutch International have brought Mad To Be Normal and You Me And Him, both starring David Tennant, to the festival.

You Me And Him
You, Me And Him is a witty romantic comedy set in middle class England about two female lovers, one a career driven lawyer (Lucy Punch) and the other a fun loving, pot smoking layabout (Faye Marsay); and their annoying Casanova neighbour (David Tennant).  While neither woman ever wanted children, both end up pregnant, creating conflicts that cause each to re-examine their outlook on life and the relationship. You, Me And Him brings humour, controversy, tears and surprises that will keep audiences in fits of laughter from the opening credits to the final curtain. The film is written and directed by Daisy Aitkens and produced by Bad Penny Productions.

Screenings:
Wednesday 17th May, 11.30, Olympia 9
Saturday 20th May, 17.30, Olympia 6

Mad To Be Normal
Mad To Be Normal reveals the story of R.D. Laing, played by David Tennant, the famous psychiatrist and one of Scotland's greatest ever minds. Working out of Kingsley Hall in East London throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Laing performed various daring experiments on people who were diagnosed as mentally disturbed. His revolutionary methods involved experimenting with LSD on his patients and practicing a form of self-healing known as metanoia, causing outrage and controversy in the medical profession and radically changing attitudes and perceptions of mental health around the world. The film was written and directed by Robert Mullen and was co-produced by Gizmo Films and Bad Penny Productions. The film has been on a limited independently distributed release in the UK this spring.

Screening:
Sunday 21st May, 14.00, Gray 1

A third feature, Bad Samaritan, starring David Tennant and Robert Sheehan and directed by Dean Devlin, is also said to be presented at the Marché du Film; however, it does not appear to be screening in full.
