VIDEO: David Tennant's Sport Relief Appeal

David Tennant contributed a moving appeal video to this year's Sport Relief on Friday night, calling on viewers to act to prevent children dying needlessly from malaria.

David told the heartbreaking story of Betty, a local woman who has already lost three of her own children to malaria. He also explains how Sport Relief and Comic Relief funds supply mosquito nets and medicines to protect children in high risk areas from the effects of the disease.

Sport Relief runs every two years, alternating with its sister charity Comic Relief. The organisation aims to to raise funds to support over 2000 crucial projects in the UK and abroad, and the appeal period culminates with an evening-long star-studded TV appeal on BBC One. The cash it raises goes to diverse projects, including those which tackle preventable diseases and protect mothers and babies from antenatal and neonatal risks in Africa, and others which support mental health projects in the UK. If you haven't yet donated, there's still time to do so via this link.

Readers in the UK can also still donate by text: text GIVE to 70205 to give £5 or 70210 to give £10. Text lines will be open until 30th June 2018.
